It's number one -It's Top of The Pops!
I've probably not taken a blind bit of notice of The Hit Parade for 20 years, so to learn of Ed Sheeran’s total chart domination this week – all 16 songs on his album ÷ are in the Top 20 singles, and all of his three albums are in the Top 5 albums has come as a bit of a shock.
The ginger twat isn't all that, is he?

What is a chart anyway?
Its a marketing device for record companies and shops.
Its an utterly outdated and irrelevant measure nowdays.

I litterally havent looked at a chart for at least 10 years.

It would be a bit like cassette copies made on twin cassette recorders counting towards the chart 30 years ago - sort of.

I presume Ed Sheeran (& family) has a streaming subscription & has his album playing on a 24 hour LOOP

Apparently 150 hits on the streaming sites = 1 sale. Add the actual sales and the you have your total...

1500 streams = 1 sale.

More people stream than by singles these days so you have to find different criteria for the charts. The only problem you get is every song on an album can count as a single.

What are the criteria for the 'charts' these days?

It can't be singles sales, surely?

But streaming a song isn't buying it, is it. Shouldn't only downloads be counted?
Besides, the bloke is pony, isn't he?

I presume every time a big star (or Ed Sheeran) releases a new album and all the KIDS stream it all week every song will finish high up in the 'charts'.
